During my time at Credera, I have honed my skills as a saleswoman. “Sales? Credera doesn’t have a sales team. How could you be involved with sales?” Well friends, I have perfected my “pitch” without an ounce of training, without ever spinning a web of over-extended promises, and here’s how: it is easy to sell a product you believe in wholeheartedly.
I started my early career with another consultancy but left a few years later to pursue a better fit. Since I joined Credera in October of 2015, it has been proven over and over that Credera is an incredible place to work.
Credera Embodies the Values It Claims
Many companies proudly boast their core values during the recruiting cycle but fail to revisit or reflect on them during the day-to-day. Our CEO, Rob Borrego, regularly mentions the high bar for talent and culture candidates must meet when applying with Credera. Not only are these discussed regularly, they are exhibited company-wide.
Professionalism – Professional people do what they say they will do and refuse to make excuses along the way. We bring a respectful attitude and the right skills to every situation.
Excellence – We never try to “sell” a client on a perfect plan or solution. There’s no such thing. But we do achieve remarkable results in everything we do.
Integrity – In every behavior we seek consistency with what we have said we believe. Our actions match our words. We do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
Humility – In every decision we consider our clients’ and colleagues’ interests as more important than our own. When we are wrong, we own our part, ask for forgiveness, and work to rebuild confidence and trust.
Many businesses in the service industry are accused of doing anything and everything to extend an invoice. One of the greatest moments of leadership and integrity I have witnessed in my professional career was a conversation with Vice President and Partner Andrew Warden.
Andrew and I began discussing the long-term future of my role on a client account. I was initially brought to the project to serve as a business analyst for new ventures, but after a few months of strong efficiency, my role morphed into an administrative position rather than a strategic partner. We wanted to be conscientious of the client’s budget and began discussing ways our client would be best served.
Our ultimate determination was that my role either needed to be discontinued or revamped. Discontinuing my role and utilizing an internal resource would allow the client to cut costs, while repurposing my position would allow the client to receive the full benefit a Credera consultant offers. Andrew explained his duty as a client partner is to be open and communicate truth, even though it may not always improve our bottom line.
That very afternoon, Andrew called the client to explain our findings and present a new plan for the future. The client was incredibly grateful for our recommendations and chose to redefine my role to allow me to offer the unique, strategic expertise only a Credera consultant can bring.
Credera Values People of All Experience Levels
The day I joined Credera, I was treated with utmost respect by Credera staff of all ages. Despite my youth, I have been challenged to lead and have been entrusted with critical responsibilities. Unlike many competing firms, Credera recognizes the unique value, voice, and perspective its millennials bring to the table and places them in challenging situations, rather than plugging them into monotonous, rote roles. Credera actively seeks to grow and stretch its employees. Because of this, I am a better-rounded consultant, leader, and individual. I am unafraid to approach obstacles because I have been given the tools for success.
Credera was recently recognized as one of Fortune’s 100 Best Places to Work for Millennials.
Crederians Are Invested in Each Other’s Success
My first day at Credera I had no idea how valuable my relationship with my mentor, Cristina Niver, would become. Cristina serves as a sounding board, a friend, a liaison, and an advocate. She is faithful to give feedback and is truly interested in helping my career flourish. Mentors keep a careful eye on their mentees, always available to provide assistance or support when needed. Because of Cristina’s vested interest in my career, I have had the courage to advocate for more opportunities to be challenged.
Apart from formal mentors, the Credera team is interested in the success of others. My current project team consists of a variety of ages and experience levels. Two candidates are fresh college hires who are staffed on their first full-time project. Simon Saugier has been devoted to ensuring these new hires are up to speed on “the Credera way” and provides impromptu coaching to support their growth. He seeks to offer them new types of work so they can become the best consultants possible.
Credera staff are committed to serving our clients well. Credera senior leadership leads in humility and places client interest first. What I have seen demonstrated is that while the dollar is important, our integrity is far more valuable. I’d rather be dealing in the currency of goodness than in dollars and cents.
Credera is more than your typical employer. It is a family. It is home.
