We engaged with the platform’s users, customers, and support team, designing and implementing new roles and support processes, in addition to new tooling and data products. This has resulted in a more reliable, user-focused, and performant platform.
The Challenge

The client's existing data analytics platform and supporting operating model offered limited scalability to meet increasing demand from users and wasn’t flexible enough to support new requests for tooling and data.
With the added complexity of an ongoing platform cloud migration, the department engaged Credera to design a new operating model for the new AWS cloud platform. This brought together new data and tooling, with redesigned support processes tuned to future users’ needs.

We produced a vision statement and target operating model to transform data and analytics services at the department.
To enable the change in capabilities required, we developed high level process maps, role descriptions, and captured existing tooling and data used on the platform.
We also produced and managed an implementation plan to deliver the changes and developed a new organisational model to support the shift to cloud-based services.

Our new operating model represents a change in approach to developing and managing a digital service within a UK government department. Our operating model design put the needs of users and end customers at its core.
As a result, the platform has a larger service offering, is more responsive to new user requests for tooling and data, facilitates secure collaboration, and is a more performant, reliable service. This increases value to ministers, operational decision makers, and UK citizens.
