At Credera, we are on a mission to make an extraordinary impact in our surrounding communities and beyond. Credera Service Day, a Credera Community Impact initiative, is our unique chance to make a collective difference by leaving our desks and spending a full day in community service across all our U.S. markets.
About Credera Community Impact
In 2020, Credera formalized its commitment to community impact by launching a new program, Credera Community Impact (CCI). CCI serves as Credera’s philanthropic arm, built to serve people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures who are circumstantially blocked from reaching their full potential by increasing accessibility to, awareness of, and education around STEM.
CCI is organized into three pillars:
Inspire: Directly serving constituents.
Create: Developing materials and programs that will be used to serve constituents.
Amplify: Helping our nonprofit partner organizations to serve their constituents more effectively.
In addition to year-round volunteer work and community investment, CCI sponsors two signature events each year: Nonprofit Consulting Leadership Program (NCLP) and our annual Service Day. This past year, we also introduced The Posse Foundation as our national not-for-profit partner.
Credera Service Day 2023
Service Day debuted in the spring of 2013 and quickly became a beloved Credera tradition. Employees step away from work for the day to collectively focus on making an impact in our local communities, whether it’s virtually or in person. On Friday, April 28, 371 Credera team members participated in 29 events with 26 organizations across seven cities.
These initiatives included:
19 inspire events, where we worked directly with thousands of constituents.
4 create events, where we created over 1,488 STEM education kits.
6 Amplify events, where we helped our nonprofit partners with operational tasks.
On that single day, Credera team members contributed over 1,600 hours and ultimately impacted over 4,000 people in our communities. Some examples of the in-person, virtual, and asynchronous events included:
Preparing 787 STEM kits for Noggin Builders to distribute to local Chicago schools.
Offering a remote resume review workshop for the Posse Foundation.
Creating care packages and hosting a consulting career question and answer session for Vickery Meadow in Dallas.
Hosting a “JA in a Day” event for Junior Achievement in Denver, working with 11 classrooms of 20 to 25 students.
The value of flexible connection opportunities reminds us that 2023 is not the same world as the one we faced two to three years ago. Coming out of a season of great uncertainty required many organizations to adapt amid new challenges. Since then, maintaining accessibility to community service opportunities has become a focal point for Credera Community Impact.
“Michele Endean and I pre-recorded an information session on interviewing strategies with Dreams for Schools. It was a fun experience getting to share our slides with the team, knowing that the video would be helpful to a lot of Dreams for Schools instructors! As a Credera team member working remotely from a Credera office, I'm happy that I get to make an impact from so far away." – Evelyn Lee, CCI Remote Co-Champion
In many service day opportunities, it’s more than impacting the constituents we meet. Some of those we serve receive the knowledge provided on Service Day to enter a career of continual impact.
“I volunteered to help run several mock interviews for Dreams for Schools mentors. These mentors are college students who take time out of their week to help children learn and develop skills in STEAM. A highlight was being able to provide them feedback at the end because the students wanted to better themselves and improve on their interview skills.” – Damon Mohan, Remote Senior Technology Consultant
By enabling more remote service opportunities, we serve our mission to create lasting opportunities for individuals to make a difference together.
A deeper purpose
Service Day is an excellent reminder of the powerful impact a team can have when individual efforts come together to serve a common mission. Small moments consisting of 50 to 100 individuals can spark the kind of impact that goes far beyond Service Day itself.
“It was awesome to see the joy on the faces of the kids and their families as they participated in the ‘mini Olympic games’," said Morgan Davis, a Credera participant in Dallas Child Care Group. “We were honored that Credera was able to be a part of what this amazing organization has been doing for over 120 years in helping families thrive and communities succeed."
As Credera continues to expand our global footprint, our mission to give back to our local communities will remain consistent. We stand together around the globe for this purpose and eagerly look forward to increasing opportunities to see this mission come to life.
The journey ahead
Service Day is only one facet of CCI. Engaging with nonprofits that are aligned with our CCI mission is a year-round initiative. We volunteer, fundraise, and deliver pro-bono projects. And beyond CCI, we also encourage and support Credera team members to continue to give their time, energy, and resources to the wide variety of causes close to their hearts.
The future is bright for our teams and our communities: The impact made on Service Day motivates us to see what our ongoing commitment can do.
